And it is nice to see you blossom in your new kite surfing team in high school. (First session, no wind so foil… not bad for a school day). We love you 😍

What a beautiful birthday day. Thanks all for your nice messages from all over the 🌎. Although we settled, the day was very similar to a party day on the boat: long family time, a long hike, spotting wild animals (yesterday it was a seal), nice meals, and time in the water (we went surfing in the evening). I feel very VERY lucky.

15 years ago, we were celebrating our love with all our friends and family… Since then, we’ve moved quite a bit, had 3 kids, and you know the rest. It is now time for an other chapter of our lives where you will see us more dressed 😜. Btw, can you tell Naomie wants a dog??

It’s been a while and things have been happening

It’s been a while and things have been happening. Coming back to land has been… how could I say… quite a change from our boat life. The pandemic wasn’t over, and meeting a class of kids in masks hasn’t been the easiest for the monkeys, but they all adapted pretty well. As expected, sitting all day long and boredom have been the biggest challenges. On our side, dealing with a tone of ill-thought administrative documents to move into a new country has been annoying, but necessary. Mike’s job is moving along well. Having meetings and an alarm clock is… different… But settling in feels really good. We just signed to buy a house in Guidel, Bretagne, France. We will have the keys beginning of July. Meanwhile, that is also where the kids go to school. We signed Bastien up for soccer. He will start his first practice on Monday. He is so excited. Noah and Naomie are happy to have some free alone and calm time after school. They are not used to the noise and social games at school yet.
My role is still to make sure my little tribe is adapting well, and that we settle happily. I also seek how to contribute to the community around us. The environment and the planet are more and more on my mind for a job direction. And meanwhile, I sit and watch with anxiety and sadness what is going on to the East. I keep inform to see how to help. That is our life now, still close to the wild and calming ocean. Big hugs to all ❤️

Well, it’s been a while… and this picture sums

Well, it’s been a while… and this picture sums it up 🤪
The kids went back to school a week ago after 3 and a half years of sailing…
And yes, everybody will agree to say it is hard to get up in the morning, with no sun on the horizon…
After only 2 days, Naomie caught the flu (and yes, we did Covid tests to make sure). By Friday, we were 4 out of 5 with a fever and in bed. Noah had the most boring week-end with 4 zombies around him. We are now just emerging from it.
The first week was intense for the kids, but overall it went very well. The boys do think that kids here are weird but they started to find kids they hang out with.
Mike now works from home. The intensity seems to be picking up.
And I am looking for a house for us to call our own. (and having fun with the administrative juggle of settling in a new country).
We feel pretty isolated here, more than on the boat, where we always had a nice community all around. Between being sick and all the covid craziness, we didn’t meet people yet. We know coming back on land isn’t easy. We are patient.
We are closer to family than we have been in a very long time. A good internet connection and the same time zone really help!!!

Big hugs to all of you. We now feel your pain of the dark mornings. But there are loads of hope. ❤️

DECISION MADE:
We are moving to FRANCE!!! 🇫🇷

Now the question is: where in France? Mike has accepted a job where he will work remotely, so in regards to his job, we can settle ANYWHERE in France.
We have selected three regions. We are going to visit them in the coming weeks (starting in a few days with the region of Perpignan-Montpellier).
The other two regions are: Bayonne/Biarritz area, and Brittany/Vendée region.

Friends have been asking: WHAT IS NEXT?
Mike is going through rounds of interviews… we hope to know soon where we will end up. We hope to settle by the end of the year. We are debating between France, Belgium, US and Canada.

The return to land has been fairly easy so far, as we take it as vacation. We have been waiting to see our family for quite some time. So we soak it in with pleasure. 🙂
