Video, Episode 10: Gulf Islands BC

Continuing Northbound, we visited the Gulf Islands and their protected and mostly windless waters. We did a first stop in Montague Harbor and treated ourselves with a musical trip on the Hummingbird Pub bus: a retired bus driver now lives his perfect live driving people from the marina to his pub while drumming to The Beatles or other past hits; a crazy ride that marveled our kids and all the other passengers. Our next destination was Degnen Bay, where Bev and David gave us a wonderful time: we tied on their brand new dock, the kids spent hours on the tree swing rope and we had a wonderful time with them on their amazing nearby beach, swimming, finding crabs and skipping stones. The next day, we crossed the Strait of Georgia with a good wind on the beam. We reached Bowen Island and tried multiple times to anchor in the bay near Snug Cove. But the water was either too deep or too crowded around private mooring balls. We ended up going into the marina at Snug Cove and we got a wonderful spot thanks to Norma. A few days later, we crossed the strait again but this time with family. A very calm passage for the new addition to our crew, Nath’s parents who will share our small space during their visit and Marc and Anna on their new boat. We stern-tied at Pirates Cove for a few days then continued our journey North to Schooner Cove.

Next destination: Princess Louisa Inlet on the other side of the strait.
